Ideas are like parasites — they latch onto you and won’t let go. Left unacknowledged, they suck the energy and life out of you. It’s simply not in their nature to be neglected. Yet so many of us try to do just that.

You spend your time consumed by a fantasy you’re passionate about: while dreaming at night, while thinking in the shower, and even while walking down the street: you can’t escape.

If you don’t go for it, it will eat you alive. But so many of us allow ourselves to be consumed.

You’ve been told that the key to success is that passion, but we all know that’s not true. The key to success is time, money, and energy — all of which are in short supply (especially now). If that’s what’s needed, the time doesn’t seem right, right?

Wrong. The time isn’t about being right. It’s about being right now.

Everyone calls me crazy for following my dream.

I don’t have enough money to start my own business.

What if I fail?

All logical questions. All questions that will eventually get answered. And the fear, anxiety, and worry associated with those questions are all valid. Still, they are not a valid reason to ignore the call to action. After all, these emotions and questions don’t only come from the fear of moving towards your dream — they also come from pushing yourself away and not living in your truth.

So if you’re going to experience these emotions anyway, why not feel them while making your passion a reality and giving it a chance to live?

Your idea isn’t silly, or egregious, or a pipe dream. It is the fire that fuels your soul. Let’s release it to the world and allow it to breathe a little. And with that air on it, watch the flames ignite.

That’s a lot of pretty words to distract you from the big three issues, right? Time. Money. Energy.

Yes. Acknowledge the risk. It’s not going anywhere. Now jump.

Some people love risk, but most of us only take small jumps in life, otherwise remaining in our safe bubble. But deep down, there’s a part of you that wants to take a big dive into the unknown.

This is the risk of starting a business. Of beginning something new. Of building a career that’s out of the ordinary, a gamble that will produce satisfaction but not necessarily stability or cash flow. A chance to let your creative ideas live on this planet for others to see and use.

Maybe you’re already there. You’ve moved past the point of wishing, and are allowing yourself to actually plan. Congratulations! That excitement will push you forward for a while. And then reality will be like a slap in the face.

Having that mindset of “I did it!” is important, but it’s not enough.

I want to be clear that this is just the beginning, and everything else will be harder than this. And that’s okay.

This is your dream. You are your biggest motivator. You are the only one who can see your vision clearly.

But you’re not alone. There are others like you doing the same thing. Stay in your dream — you’re not crazy; you’re just of a different mindset.

Let me be frank with you. You will lose time, money, and energy. For some people, that’s too much risk. But not for you. The risk of starting your own business will be worth it, not because you’re guaranteed to succeed, but because you gave your dream life and tried.

A final question for you: does this idea even have a shot?

We’ll have the answer to that shortly…once you make the jump.

Whether for a short or long time, your dream existed. It was real. It was here. And you made your mark on the world in a unique way.
